Tortuguero-Nationalpark

The Tortugueras, about 1900 hectars in area, is predominantly washing country. In the mangrove forests with their numerous lagoons and river courses one finds a sumptuous Flora and Fauna.  In particular the national parks are a refuge for many of the threatened turtle species.  It is a special experience to observe these up to 700 kg animals with the oviposition!

Since the Tortuguero National Park does not have roads or well marked paths, it is best to go with a guide for a 2 day adventure. After a typical Costa Rican breakfast (gallo pinto) visit a banana plantation.  From here you will arrive by  boat after about a 1.5 hours and travel by flussarme and lagoons the Parismina Lodge where lunch will be served. In the afternoon and evening you are with the boat on the channels and rivers where you will see large crocodiles, iguana, apes, putrid animals and numerous birds.
On the second day, start out with a rich breakfast on a further investigation travel by boat. On a short walk by the jungle approximately 1 hour worth of opportunities to investigate the extraordinarily sumptuous vegetation. With something luck you might be able to observe the famous arrow poison frogs.
